Gary Crouch

Gary
Crouch began his art career in 1966, at age 19, upon completing two commissioned
acrylic paintings of
fourteenth century armor. Although fine art commissions were scarce in the early
years Gary continued to develop his abilities working in pencil, pen & ink,
acrylic and oil. In 1969 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and assigned as a
medical illustrator at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas and
later as a combat illustrator in Vietnam. Gary received the Bronze Star,
Meritorious Achievement, and Presidential Citation while serving in the
military. After discharge he returned to private business and ventured more into
commercial art, design and illustration; doing extensive work in airbrush as
well as the more familiar mediums.
Commissions for magazine designs, cover illustrations, paintings for product
advertising and brochures
included many Fortune 500 companies such as Xerox, American Airlines, Sony,
Associates, Campbell Taggart, and Johnson & Johnson.
In the late 1970s Gary painted a number
of wildlife paintings, producing limited edition prints that were sold on the
national market. He designed and illustrated educational posters on Creationism
currently used in 120 countries around the world at colleges and universities.
At age 59 (in 2006) his interest
continues in the heritage of Texas and the United States. "If we don't make
sure that the generations to follow understand their heritage and the
uncompromising principles of their forefathers then the very foundation of truth
will continue to erode bringing forth a general sense of lack of direction for
our future". Gary resides in Burleson, Texas while continuing in fine art
and commercial art; creating art prints of historic interest, corporate
literature, logo designs, illustrations and educational literature and posters
for Biblical teaching.
